October Party and Powerful Headlines

sat oct 20, 2012

Here I am, MindMyst, with my little bag of tricks, going with Nina to a fitting, spooky, October Costume Party.  It is a beautiful starry night, with a biting chill in the air.  We're at a private home in Granby, Ct... a countryside of sprawling, old growth trees, orchards, black cats around about hunting along the roadside trails.

Sunset light piercing through the brilliant yellow, gold, and orange of oak, maple, and birch trees, is, this day, sprinkled here and there with the red of roadside sumac leaves. Like a thick, workday stew, this country scene shows bunches, and individual evergreen stands of tall white pines and spruce.  All are on a growing quilt of fallen leaves, and pine needles.

Nina(spider queen)  and I(MindMyst the Magician) went to the Riccio Halloween party last night.  We mingled with Debbie's cousins Stanley and his wife and son (green mask, black robe),
Wesley and Lisa(heathen logger, and ladybug),
Mrs H(farm girl), of course,
Neil and Beverley(southern, hot breakfast killer, and hippy),
Becky(cowgirl),
Kathy(wicked witch of the west), and
Celia(burnet portrayal of a nursing home resident).
Gabe and Debbie (Hugh Hefner, and 16th century farm wife)

MindMyst was there, and won "best hat" of the night!  Of course, I couldn't refrain from pulling a rabbit from my hat ... it was absolutely necessary!

Outside motif was Haunted Garden... featuring garden goul, a very large attack spider, a flame bowl, a strange porch butler, and a porch skeleton.  Greeting us as we entered, another butler (animated).  Everyone was in costume, and the pork roast meal was excellent.  Plenty of wine, cider, beer, and soft beverages, and coffee.

Someone had suggested taking out a ouija board, but I nixed that idea immediately.  Stanley's wife asked me about my "take" on playing with a ouija board, and I told her that it's best that we don't open any "windows" of exposure to demons.  I did get the chance to elaborate on Isaiah 9:10,
and recommended Jonathan Cahn's book Harbinger.  I also had a conversation with Beverley about the Earth being the center of the universe, as well as a nice layout of t=f(g), and c=f(t)  leading to the idea that ly is only a measure of distance, not a measure of time.

We played a game called Telestrations.  Interesting and fun game around the table.
In fact, this is an award-winning game... highly recommended.

Nina and I left at midnight (only fitting).

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — A magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck off the west coast of Canada, but there were no reports of major damage. Residents in parts of British Columbia were evacuated, but the province appeared to escape the biggest quake in Canada since 1949 largely unscathed.
*The Italian government has filed charges against all involved.

WATERBURY, Ct. - Hurricane Sandy is aiming for landfall just south us us.  As of this report, it's 2:00pm, and calm, with light rain. Traffic volume is very light. Nina is at work in Naugatuck. She just called saying she'll wrap things up and leave there around 3pm.  The weather stick is down.  The wind chimes are silent at the moment.  Temp is 65.7F.  All highways are closed, except for emergency vehicles only.

News 8's Erin Logan was on Great Hammock Road in Old Saybrook, where the noon-hour high tide flooded lawns and roads.

Ok.  It's 4pm.  Nina's home.  We're cooking 6 thick, juicy boneless pork chops topped with fresh apple slices and brown sugar.  We'll fry up some hash browns, and maybe I'll have a nice cold bottle of Sam's Oktoberfest!

Study: Male beluga whale mimics human speech
Caretakers at the Vancouver Aquarium in Canada previously said they heard one of the white whales say its name.
*  When interogated on the issue, the whale attempted to negotiate for a bigger tank, and younger sex partners in exchange for it's cooperation.
